Biography

Kathy Prudden earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Social Work form the University of Maine, a Master’s of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and an Advanced Professional Certificate in Expressive Therapies Studies from Lesley University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Expressive Arts with the European Graduate School.

Ms. Prudden is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association.  She has served on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Chapter of NASW, which included officer positions. 

The primary area of clinical expertise for Ms. Prudden is in sexual trauma.  During a span of over 25 years she has provided individual and group therapy, legal and legislative advocacy, program development, community outreach and training.  She has served as a consultant for a federal agency, where she has been recognized as a national expert, and continues to provide law enforcement consultation and training.

Ms. Prudden has additionally worked in adult and adolescent day treatment centers providing both clinical and program development services for a general psychiatric population. She maintains a small private practice where she provides individual and group talk and expressive arts therapy, and supervision for persons seeking clinical licensure.  Ms. Prudden has been recognized for her achievements in teaching, service in the field of sexual violence, and legislative advocacy.
