Biography

Ellen Fink-Samnick is Principal of EFS Supervision Strategies, LLC. She empowers health care's transdisciplinary workforce thru professional speaking, mentoring & consultation. Ellen is an adjunct with the Department of Social Work at George Mason University.

An industry thought leader for over 30 years, Ellen is known and respected as "The Ethical Compass of Professional Case Management". A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Ellen is a popular presenter with hundreds of offerings to her credit and author close to 100 publications. Ellen has received awards and global recognition for her innovative practice, including the 2017 Distinguished Master Social Work Alumni from the University of Buffalo School of Social Work, and 2016 National Award of Service Excellence for the Case Management Society of America.

With Teresa Treiger, Ellen is co-author of the book COLLABORATE© for Professional Case Management: A Universal Competency-Based Paradigm, 1st ed., published by Wolters Kluwer Health, and the chapter on Case and Population Health Management for the upcoming 6th Edition of Leadership and Nursing Care Management by Diane L. Huber, published by Elsevier. Ellen has authored the chapters on the Ethical Use of Case Management Technology in the latest edition of CMSA’s Core Curriculum for Case Management, and both Collaborative Care and Social Determinants of Health for the Encyclopedia of Social Work Online, published by the NASW and Oxford Press. She has contributed to CMSA’s Career and Knowledge Pathways©, plus the Commission for Case Manager Certification’s Case Management Body of Knowledge©. Ellen also served on the committee that revised CMSA’s 2016 Standards of Practice.

Ellen's passion is evident across roles as professional trainer, industry consultant, educator, social media moderator, continuing education developer, accreditation specialist, clinical social work supervisor and professional mentor to the case management community. Her contributions to professional case management, ethics, and clinical social work transverse professional associations and credentialing organizations, including roles as subject matter expert, exam item writer, and leadership positions. She is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Professional Case Management Journal, and the moderator of Ellen’s Ethical Lens on LinkedIn.

Ellen serves as a Director on the 2017-2018 CMSA National Board. She has been a commissioner for CCMC, member of their Executive Committee, and Chair of their Ethics and Professional Conduct Committee. Ellen is a vibrant professional voice.
