Three Mason students, including two CHHS students in the Department of Social Work, were named Grantmakers in Aging (GIA) Fellows for 2015.
Sonya Hudson, MSW student; Elena Keydel, MSW student; and Johanna O'Loughlin, PhD student in the School of Public Policy, Government and International Affairs, were recognized during the GIA Fellows reception on October 28 as part of GIA’s annual conference in Washington, DC.
“To have Mason students receive three of the six Fellows spots this year is indicative of the impactful scholarly work our students are doing to improve social services for our aging society,” said Thomas Prohaska, dean of the College of Health and Human Services. “By presenting their aging-focused research at the GIA annual conference, these students have the opportunity to share their work and network with experts in the field of aging.”
The GIA Fellows program, which began in 1999, offers graduate and post-doctoral students the opportunity to attend GIA’s annual conference, to present their work in roundtable discussions, and to learn from other conference sessions and networking events.
